1. What we collect

When you purchase and activate InterviewNail, we collect:

  • Your email address, used for your license key delivery and customer portal login.
  • A scrambled, one-way version of your license key that can't be turned back into the original — never the key itself in readable form.
  • A scrambled, one-way ID for your device, created from hardware details that never leave your device — we only ever see the scrambled version, not the original details.
  • Basic device diagnostics (OS version, CPU, RAM) for support purposes only.
  • If you use prepaid AI credits: which AI model was used, how many tokens were consumed, and how many credits that cost — never the actual content of your prompts or the AI's responses.

If you bring your own AI provider API key instead of using prepaid credits, that key is stored only on your device and is never sent to InterviewNail.

2. How we use it

To activate and verify your license, provide the customer portal, process purchases, meter AI credit usage, and provide customer support.

3. Third parties

Payments are processed by Stripe. If you use prepaid AI credits, your AI requests are proxied through OpenAI to generate a response — this only happens for the prepaid-credits path, never when you bring your own API key.

4. Data retention

We retain account and license data for as long as your license is active, and as needed for support, fraud prevention, and legal/accounting requirements.

5. Your choices

You can deactivate a device from the customer portal at any time. To request deletion of your account data, contact us using the details below.

6. Security

License keys and device IDs are stored only in scrambled, one-way form, never in readable form. On your device, your sign-in information and (if applicable) your own AI API key are encrypted using Windows' built-in protection, tied to your Windows user account.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we do, you'll be asked to review and re-accept the new version the next time you use the app.
